Bernice “Bunnie” Mixdorf, 91, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center.

She was born May 25, 1925 in Hanlontown, Iowa, the daughter of Martin & Louise (Marotz) Oswald. Bunnie married Alvin Mixdorf July 28, 1946 in Waterloo, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1990. Bunnie graduated from Hanlontown High School. She was employed at Rath Packing Company in Waterloo, and later St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls.

Survivors include her five daughters: LaVerne and Roger Wood of Redmond, Washington, Linda and Jerry Heller of Allison, Iowa, Lorraine and Gary Ihnen of Cedar Falls, Lana and Bob Garcia of Vancouver, Washington, and Lisa Mixdorf of Santa Clara, California; her special Texas daughter, Pam Callan; her grandchildren: William & Greta Wood, Amy Roberts, Tiffany & Russ Good, Robbie Garcia, Travis Ihnen, Kai & Maricris Garcia, Tim & Jessica Ihnen; her great-grandchildren: Jessica, Devon, & Alison Mettlin, Justin Good, Spencer, Anna & Mason Wood, Isabella, Annamarie, Alexandria & Anthony Ihnen, Emma & Carter Ihnen, Kade Garcia, Zachary & Kobe Callan; her brother, Myron Oswald, of Harpers Ferry, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Jim Vogel, of Jesup, Iowa and a sister-in-law, Alvera Mixdorf, of Waterloo.

Bunnie was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a grandson, Justin Callan; two brothers, Melvin and Clarence Oswald; and by four sisters: Irma Husome, Irene Maxson, Elaine Vogel, and Esther Hudson.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, with burial at Garden of Memories in Waterloo. Visitation will be 2—5 p.m. Sunday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls and one hour before service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Retrieving Freedom in Waverly,Iowa, Alzheimer's Association and Toys for Tots. Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
