Donald “Franny” D. Frandsen, 73, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, November 14, 2016, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo.

Franny was born April 16, 1943 at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, the son of Ralph & Virginia (Jacobson) Frandsen. He graduated from Northern University High School (Price Lab) in 1961 and served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. He played in a band in California and was a fireman with the Cedar Falls Fire Department until his retirement.

Franny was a charter member and Chaplain with the Cedar Falls Fraternal Order of Eagles, Past Commander of Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 and Past Commodore with the Cedar Falls Boat Club.

Survivors include his brother, Richard (Shirley) Frandsen of Waterloo and his two sisters, Joyce Jensen and Joan (Lynn) Christensen, both of Cedar Falls.

Franny was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Jim Jensen.

A Celebration of Life will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Cedar Falls Fraternal Order of Eagles, 2125 W. Lone Tree Road, with a luncheon at 1:30 p.m. at Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49, 1934 Irving Street. Inurnment will take place in Fairview Cemetery at a later date.
