Biography--

Merlin McCabe, 89, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Western Home Communities Elizabeth Martin Health Center.

Merlin was born April 13, 1927 in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Charles & Lois (Jante) McCabe. He married Mary Ann Emmel on May 4, 1954, in Charles City, Iowa. She preceded him in death May 18, 2015.

Merlin graduated from Charles City High School and served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He was employed with U.S. West Telephone Company for 37 years retiring in 1989.

Survivors include his son, John (Karen) McCabe of Cedar Falls; his daughter, Sherry (Anthony) Woodmancy of Crofton, Maryland; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Merlin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a grandson and a great granddaughter.
