Life Legacy--

Roy Edward Saul, 86, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Monday, December 26, 2016, at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa.

He was born November 29, 1930 in Cedar Falls, the son of Earl and Cecillia (DeJaeger) Saul. Roy married Barbara Voorhees on November 24, 1956 in Cedar Falls. She preceded him in death on December 17, 2004. Roy attended New Hartford School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He farmed in Butler County, Iowa, worked in the maintenance department at Allen Memorial Hospital and worked at Clay Equipment Company in Cedar Falls for over 40 years. Roy was a member of Cedar Falls American Legion Post 237.

Roy is survived by his three daughters: Janice Johnson and Lucy (Leonard) Boege, both of Cedar Falls and Mary Chavez of Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren; five step grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Jim (Ann) Saul, of New Hartford; a sister, Luella (Don) Green, of New Hartford; and by two sisters-in-law, Millie Saul of Parkersburg, Iowa and JoAnn Saul of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; two sons, Roger and Edward Saul; three brothers: Francis, Leo and John Saul; and by two sisters, Geraldine Ackerson and Mary Saul.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2016, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls American Legion Post 237 and Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Visitation will be 4—7:00 p.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, where a 4:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary Service will be conducted. Visitation also one hour before service at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family. Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com.
