Allen Nielsen,79, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at his home in Cedar Falls.

He was born February 11, 1938 in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Chris and Thora (Christensen) Nielsen. He married Judy Betts June 22, 1957 in Cedar Falls. Before his retirement in 2007 he was heavy equipment operator for Assink Brothers, which later became Benton Sand and Gravel.

Allen is survived by his wife, Judy Nielsen, of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Susan (Richard) Booth and Julie (Chuck) Yokem, both of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren, Matt (Kelly) Booth, Marsha (Daniel) Hilliard, Megan (Eric) Ocheltree, Jeremy (Karen) Yokem and Shelby (Jasmine Watts) Yokem; five great grandchildren, Rylee Hilliard, Jonah Yokem, Dane Booth, Mackenzie Yokem and Lexi Booth; One brother, Dennis (Myong) Nielsen, of Cedar Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Steven Allen Nielsen, One sister, Mary Mayne and one in infancy; two brothers, Donald and Eugene Nielsen. And one great grandson, Mason Hilliard.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 16 at the funeral home and one hour before services on Friday.
