Biography--

Sylvia M. Obermeier, 85, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Western Home Communities Windhaven Assisted Living.

Sylvia was born November 8, 1931, in Indiana, the daughter of Paul & Catherine (Vaeth) Schue. She married Albert Obermeier May 30, 1953 in Evansville, Indiana. He preceded her in death August 21, 2016.

Survivors include four daughters: Mary (Fred) Hertzer of Frisco, Texas, Rebecca (Scott) Clark of Wescosville, Pennsylvania, Dori (Joe) O’Donnell of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania and Carol (Don) Allen of Hiawatha, Iowa; one son, Michael (Jane) Obermeier of Cedar Falls; 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; one brother, Norman (Leona) Schue of Indiana; and by three sisters: Susan (Duane) Reynolds, Nellie (Fred) Ebert and Pauli (Harold) Pund, all of Indiana.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents and husband; one stepson, Allen Miller; two grandchildren and two brothers, John and Leo Schue.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Waterloo. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to service time Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
