Biography--

Eldora M. “Dorie” Bahlmann, age 93, entered into heaven on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at her home.

She was born July 18, 1922, in Bremer County, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Anna Krienke Buchholz. Dorie was united in marriage with Arnold F. Bahlmann on November 7, 1947 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1995.

Dorie worked in the canning and packing departments at Rath Packing Co. for 37 years, retiring in July 1984. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Dorie loved to go fishing, enjoyed her Wednesday afternoon quilting gatherings and playing cards.

She had a gift for remembering birthdays, especially the neighborhood children who knew her as “Grandma D”. Dorie loved cats, including her longtime companion Blackie. She also enjoyed her afternoon toddy.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Larry (Joyce) Buchholz of Traer, IA, Roger (Betty) Buchholz of Elkader, IA, Mary Ann Howe of Cedar Falls, IA, Barb (Max) Steege of Swisher, IA, Gerald (Bev) Buhrow of Readlyn, IA, Becky Buhrow of Waverly, IA, and Velda (Dick) Dreesman of Waverly and many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Leona Buhrow; by two brothers, Edwin and Alfred Buchholz; and by a nephew, Richard Buhrow.
