Wednesday, June 1 at Garden View Chapel, 3655 Logan Avenue in Waterloo and an hour prior to the services on Thursday at the Church.

Biography--

Sandra S. “Sandy” Burk, age 75, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born May 16, 1941, in Garrison, Iowa, the daughter of Harold E. and Rhuella M. Pavey Schmidt. Sandy graduated from Waterloo East High School with the class of 1958. She was united in marriage with Richard C. Burk on June 18, 1966, in Waterloo. He died April 14, 2006.

Sandy worked at Santa Claus Industries for 26 years, holding various positions including manager of the Waterloo, Laredo, Texas and Monterrey, Mexico locations until the business closed in 1987. She was most recently employed as a legal assistant in the law offices of McCoy, Riley and Shea for 21 years, retiring December 31, 2012. She loved Hawkeye Football and was a season ticket holder, attending many of the home games, the Rose Bowl and other bowl games over the years.

Survivors include two sons, Randy (Dixie) Burk of Cedar Falls and Scott Burk of Waterloo; four grandchildren: Haley Burk, Cody Burk, Devon Baumgartner and Kelsey Timko; a great grandson, Bryce; two brothers, Thomas (Karen) Schmidt and Robert (Shelley) Schmidt, all of Waterloo; and two sisters, Caryl Schmidt of Oregon and Karen (Pete) Lovell of Wymore, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, James Fisher.
