Biography--

Lorraine Worthington Burton, 99, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at Lakeview Landing of Friendship Village, on Thursday, July 14, 2016.

Lorraine was born on October 23, 1916 in Mansfield, Ohio, daughter of Wayne and Edith (Peterson) Worthington. She married George Burton in California. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1998.

Lorraine received her B.A. from UCLA and then taught school in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles, Calif. She was also an accomplished artist. She returned after many years to Waterloo following her husband’s death in 1998.

She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Botsai of Honolulu, Hawaii; a granddaughter, Kiana (Brad) Hennington of Honolulu, Hawaii; two great-grandchildren; and by a brother, Stanley (Linda) Worthington of Waterloo.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband and by two sisters, Janice Smith Williams and Patricia French.
