Biography--

Bertha Bishop, 88, of Denver, died Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.

She was born April 9, 1928 in Butler County the daughter of Engelbertus and Gertie (Bunk) Abbas.

She graduated from Ackley High School and Hamilton Business College in Mason City.

She married George J. Bishop on October 4, 1952, in Ackley. He preceded her in death on September 13, 1994.

She owned and operated G & B Cafe until 1986 and also worked as the office manager for Crouse Cartage Company for five years, retiring in 1990.

She is survived by two sons, Duane (Kathleen) Bishop of Clarksville and Thomas (Laurie Rausch) Bishop of Pierre, SD; by three daughters: Mary (Patrick) McCusker of Walker, Linda Kruse of Denver, and Cindy (Tim) Carlson of Cedar Falls; by 14 grandchildren; by 18 great-grandchildren; and by one sister, Remda Geerdes of Ankeny.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; by three brothers: Arend, George and Fred Abbas; and by four sisters: Alice Van Heiden, Lucille Plutschouw, Henrietta Johnson and a sister in infancy.
