Biography--

Mary C. Penry, 88, formerly of Evansdale, Iowa, died Friday, August 26, 2016 at ManorCare Health Services. She was born January 18, 1928, in Jesup the daughter of Harry and Mary (Anderson) Lies. She married Joe Penry on February 8, 1945, in Waterloo. He preceded her in death in February of 1971.

Mary worked as an Inspector for Chamberlin Manufacturing retiring after 31 years.

She is survived by a twin brother, Ray (Betty) Lies of Cedaredge, Colorado; a daughter, Michele “Mickey” (James) Heronimus of Waterloo; a son-in-law, Jerry Thompson of Waterloo; three grandchildren: Troy Thompson of Waterloo, Jodi (Shawn) McGrane of Dumont, Timothy Heronimus of Waterloo; six great-grandchildren: Brandon (Heather) Thompson, Brittanie Thompson, Brooke Thompson all of Waterloo, Randi Fritze of Minneapolis, MN, Kyle McGrane of Dumont, and Kurtis (Alicia) McGrane of Waterloo; five great-great-grandchildren; and by a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Joan Thompson; one grandson, Brice Thompson; four brothers: Donald, Richard, Louie and Robert Lies; and by three sisters: Lucille Schnell, Patricia Lies and Emily Hildebrand.
