Biography--

Arlin Carl Schellhorn, 89, Waterloo, died at UnityPoint Health ‑ Allen Hospital on Tuesday, September 20, 2016.

He was born March 18, 1927 in Waverly, the son of Ernest and Eldora (Niedert) Schellhorn.

Arlin married Gladys Bates on Oct. 28, 1956 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She preceded him in death on March 13, 2016.

He attended Waverly Schools and was a cement finisher and laborer with Jens Oelsen Construction for 35 years.

Arlin was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and he also enjoyed working on his lawn and tinkering in his garage.

He is survived by two sons, Donald (Pam) Schellhorn of Dysart and Russ (Brenda) Schellhorn of Waterloo; by five grandchildren: Nate (Gina) Schellhorn, Brandon (Jessica) Schellhorn, Steve (Tiffany) Schellhorn, Melissa Schellhorn, and Ryan (Jessica) Schellhorn; and by ten great‑grandchildren.

Arlin was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, LaVern Schellhorn; and two sisters, Florence Hilmer and Verona Hudsel.
