Biography--

Vivian C. Hern, 94, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at UnityPoint Health Allen Hospital of natural causes.

She was born August 24, 1922, in Clyde the daughter of Elmer and Millie (Ackelson) Miller. She married Jack E. Hern on July 23, 1944 in Hiawatha, Kansas. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1997.

Vivian worked at Hinson Manufacturing and also owned and operated V’s Hobby Crafts. She was a Volunteer for the Red Cross for 11 years.

She is survived by one son, Monty Hern of Conroe, TX; two daughters, Diane (Ernie) Walters of Oskaloosa, KS and Marvena (Marti) Ryan of Waterloo; and 32 grand-children and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, James and Jack E. Hern II; one grandson, Jeff Hern; and by two brothers, Willard and Donald Miller.
