Biography--

Ruth E. Shoemaker, 86, of Waterloo, died at UnityPoint Health ‑ Allen Hospital, Waterloo, Iowa, on Tuesday, October 11, 2016.

She was born January 13, 1930, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Frank and Esta Mae (Borrall) Hollingsworth. Ruth graduated from Knoxville High School.

She married Gene D. Shoemaker on June 14, 1948, in Knoxville, Iowa. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2002.

She is survived by three sons: Gary (Christi) Shoemaker of Waterloo, Dennis (Pauline) Shoemaker of New Berlin, WI, and Lawrence (Cindy) Shoemaker of Nashua; four daughters: Susan (Wendell) Eckhoff of Stewartville, MN, Sharon Shoemaker of Waterloo, Sheila (Gene) Welter of Gilbertville, and Sandy (David) Hocken of Avoca; by 15 grandchildren and by 12 great-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by: her parents; and her husband, Gene.
