Biography--

George C. Pates, 69, of Waterloo, Iowa, died on November 1, 2016 at his home, from heart failure.

He was born in Waterloo on January 18, 1947; the son of Wilbur Charles and Maxine Alberta (Brimmer) Pates.

George married Marilyn Maxfield on December 26, 1965 in Waterloo.

He attended Waterloo East High School. George worked as a crane operator for John Deere until his retirement in 1997.

He enjoyed playing golf, casinos, snowmobiling, and classic cars. George liked to ride his Harley and took many trips on his motorcycle.

He is survived by his wife of Waterloo; one son, Rick (Katie) Pates of Waverly; one daughter, Tonya (Joe Sullivan) Pates of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Corey O’Connell, Austin Pates, Amy Sherwood, Skylar Halverson, and Catelynn Sullivan; six great-grandchildren, Hannah, Alex, Olivia, Tanner, Lillian, and Alyssa; one sister, Patricia Hoeppner of Waterloo; and his fur baby, Tuck.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
