She was born May 15, 1923 in Newton Township, rural Buchanan County, Iowa, the daughter of Robert Amil and Mary Louise (Dukek) Franck. Ardie graduated from Quasqueton (Iowa) High School with the Class of 1940 and she attended Gates Business College in Waterloo.

She was united in marriage with Russell P. Miszner on February 25, 1948, at the First Methodist Church in La Porte City. He preceded her in death on September 22, 1994.

Ardie began her working career at Sunshine Biscuit Co. in Waterloo, where she worked from 1942-1948. In 1953 she began as a bookkeeper at the Co-op Grain Elevator in La Porte City, working there until her retirement in 1988. Ardie and Russell farmed in rural La Porte City for over 40 years and she also worked as an auction cashier for her husband and Bill Starr.

Ardie was a longtime, active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in La Porte City and had been honored as Woman of the Year by her congregation. She was a recipient of the Jessie Wasson Award in La Porte City in 1995 and volunteered at Union Elementary School in La Porte City as a 1st grade teacher’s assistant helping children learn to read.

Ardie also was a volunteer at Covenant Cancer Treatment Center and Cedar Valley Hospice for several years. She was very proud that as a youth she won the 6th and 7th grade Buchanan County Spelling Bee and ultimately finished 7th in the Iowa Spelling Bee.
