Biography--

Robert W. Kemmerer, 91, of Elk Run Heights, Iowa, died at UnityPoint Health ‑ Allen Hospital, Waterloo, Iowa, on Tuesday, November 22, 2016.

Robert was born on June 13, 1925 in Boone County, Iowa, son of Simon and Artie (Greenleaf) Kemmerer.

He married Jeanette "Betty" Loraine Parks on October 10, 1947 in Omaha, Nebraska.

Robert worked for John Deere & Co. in the sheet metal department in the experimental building PEC for 30 years, before retiring in January of 1988.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942-45. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 838 and Becker-Chapman American Legion Post #138.

Robert was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He frequently took trips to Wyoming and Canada, and he was a very skilled woodworker.

Robert is survived by his wife, Jeanette, "Betty"; by three daughters: Roberta "Bobbie" Tjaden of Waterloo, Sheila Kemmerer of Washburn, and Lisa Kemmerer, of Evansdale; by five grandchildren: Penny Stueve, Chris Kemmerer, Ryan Larson, Andy (Courtney) Kemmerer, and Chad (Tanjha) Larson; and by four great-grandchildren: Alivia, Jaxon, Hadley, and Kinnick.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Kemmerer; a grandson, Jamie Kokotan; ten brothers: Harold and David, both in infancy, Clifford, Henry, Joseph, Ivan, Edwin, Jack, George, and Kenneth; and a sister, Erma Wirtz.
