Services:
Monday, December 19, 2016 at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel with military rites conducted by the U.S. Navy Funeral Honor Detail, Becker-Chapman American Legion Post #138 and V.F.W. Post 1623.

Visitation:
Public visitation will be held one hour before the service

Cemetery:
Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama.

Biography--

Lyle A. Smith, 85, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes. He was born May 28, 1931, in Tama, the son of Oliver and Lulu (Cobb) Smith. He was a 1950 graduate of Reinbeck High School. Lyle married Wilma Hulme in 1977 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, they were later divorced.

Lyle worked at Rath Packing Co. for 34 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by two brothers, Clarence (Carol) Smith of Cedar Falls, Dean (Mary Ann) Smith of Waterloo; many nieces and nephews; and his caregiver, Sally Hansen of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lois Clark and one brother, Paul Smith.
