Biography--

Joyce T. “Jo” Shannon, 85, of Waterloo, died at Ravenwood Specialty Care. Monday, January 9, 2017 from complications of Alzheimer’s.

Jo was born June 21, 1931 in Fairbank, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Anna (McCue) McCunniff.

She graduated from Our Lady of Victory Academy in Waterloo.

Jo married Leo M. Shannon on September 7, 1953 in Waterloo; he preceded her in death on September 1, 1985.

She had previously worked in the office for Rath Packing Co. and in the deli for Adam's Grocery Store before retiring in 2007.

Jo is a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

She is survived by three daughters: Kim (Brian) Smith of Cedar Rapids, Kelli Shannon and Kathy (Larry) Bearbower, both of Waterloo; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Darlene Lyons of Waterloo and Kathleen Guyette of Austin, Minnesota.

Jo was preceded by her parents; her husband, Leo; two brothers, Jack and Robert McCunniff; and a sister, Jean McCunniff.
