Biography--

Oren Henry Simpson, age 91, of Waterloo, Iowa, died on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born on December 7, 1925, in St. Joseph, Missouri; the son of Oren E. and Bertha M. (Burgess) Simpson. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, until his honorable discharge in 1946. Oren worked at Rath Packing Company in the boning department for 43 years, retiring in 1985.

Oren married Edna F. Crenshaw on April 13, 1946 in Waterloo; she preceded him in death on December 16, 1999. He was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post #138 and AMVETS Post #19.

Survivors include a daughter Gloria (Charlie) Dreier of Waverly; a son, Jeff (Rhonda) Simpson of Hatfield, Missouri; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his wife; two daughters, Joyce O'Malley and Becky Lawless; a brother, Gerald Simpson; two sisters, Alice Ludolph and Betty McCaffery; grandchildren: Heather Nicol, Anna O'Malley and Danny O’Malley; and a great-grandson, Jalen O’Malley.
