Biography--

Ida Mae Snyder, age 91, of Tripoli and formerly of Waterloo, died on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Tripoli Nursing and Rehab of natural causes.

She was born in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin on June 24, 1925; the daughter of Marquis and Clara Knief Gillett. She was a 1942 graduate of Frederika High School.

Ida Mae married James H. Snyder on June 30, 1945 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He died December 15, 1978.

She was a manager in the catalog department at JCPenney, she had also worked at Rath Packing Co., Win’s Drive-In, and for Waterloo Community Schools. She worked the Noodle Nook at Cattle Congress and received numerous service awards.

Ida Mae was a member of Grace Methodist and later was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Women’s AMVETS Auxiliary, Rath Packing Co. women’s basketball team, and was a Cub Scout den leader.

She is survived by her five children, a daughter, Barbara Snyder of Tripoli; a son, Jim (Carolyn) Snyder of Bay City, TX; a daughter, Jean (Jim) Harp of Tripoli; a son, Gary (Sandi) Snyder of Fredericksburg; and a daughter, Cindy (Joe) McCraney of Waterloo; Eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Ida Mae was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Winfred and Al Gillett; three grandsons, Scott Snyder, Joshua “Josh” Harp, and Joseph (Joey) McCraney.
