Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Boothby Funeral Home, 207 E. Main St., Cherokee, Iowa

Visitation:
Monday, March 20, 2017 at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, 3146 Kimball Avenue, Waterloo and from 12:00 p.m. until the services on Wednesday at Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee.

Cemetery:
Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee, Iowa

Biography--

Donna Colleen Witcombe Gadke, age 89, of Waterloo, Iowa, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Pinnacle Specialty Care in Cedar Falls.

She was born July 27, 1927 in Storm Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Phillip and Luella (Witter) Wilmot. Donna graduated from Washington High School in Cherokee, Iowa with the Class of 1944 at the age of 16. She also earned a degree in Business Administration from Hawkeye Technical College in Waterloo.

She married Paul L. Witcombe on March 16, 1945 at the Church of Christ in Cherokee, Iowa. Three children were born to this union: Marilee, Gary and Teresa. Paul preceded her in death on April 7, 1967. Donna married Charles “Chuck” Gadke on December 13, 1975 at River’s Edge Church of Christ in Waterloo. They traveled and were members of the National Railroad Campers Association. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1985.

Donna was a consummate mother and homemaker. For several years she worked as a bookkeeper for Sam Annis and participated in the Ground Observer Coop in Waterloo. Donna was a charter member of River’s Edge Church of Christ, a member of the PTA at Lincoln School and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed camping, traveling, baking, sewing, quilting and crocheting.

Survivors include three children: Marilee (Donald) Spielberger of Greenwood, IN, Gary (Linda) Witcombe of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Teresa “Terry” (Dave) Galbraith, of Elk Run Heights, Iowa; six loving grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alma Jean Leonard of Cherokee, Iowa, and Delia Clayton of Pleasantville, Iowa; and a brother, Dale Wilmot of Raytown, MO.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; two brothers, Dean Wilmot and Allen Wilmot and a grandson, Cory Witcombe.
