November 28, 1931 - June 2, 2016

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA – Jane A. Bragdon, 84, of Cedar Falls died Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Western Home Communities – Windridge.

She was born November 28, 1931 in Keystone, Iowa, daughter of Hubert and Elvera (Tanck) Cherveny. She married John Daniel Pulkrabek on August 1, 1950. He died February 1963. She married John Bragdon in 2001 and he died a year later.

She graduated from Keystone High School in 1948 and worked in her family’s grocery store throughout her youth. She earned her teaching degree from State College of Iowa (UNI) and was an elementary teacher in Dike Community Schools for 26 years prior to retiring. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls.

She is survived by two daughters, Joy Niederhauser of Denver, CO, and Jodi (Jim) Landau of Cedar Falls; a son, Jan (Tami) Pulkrabek of Overland Park, KS; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Pulkrabek of Hilton Head, SC; six grandchildren: Jenny (Marcus McAskin) Niederhauser, Brittany Pulkrabek, Brooke Pulkrabek, Jordan (Luke) Buhr, Jaclyn (Nick) Hanson, and John Landau; and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Donny Cherveny; and a son, Jack Pulkrabek.

Services: Thursday at First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in St. Paul Cemetery, Traer, Iowa. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Richardson Funeral Service, and also for one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.

Jane was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a member of Cedar Falls Eastern Star and Joy Circle at First United Methodist Church.
