June 18, 1918 - October 1, 2016

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Otis A. “Otie” Budlong, Jr., 98, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, October 1, 2016, at the Western Home Communities-Windhaven.

He was born June 18, 1918, in Toledo, Iowa, the son of Otis A and Marjorie Mary Wilson Budlong Sr. He married Edna J. Iseminger April 2, 1941, in Waterloo. She died September 30, 2007.

Otis graduated from Janesville High School in1936 and attended Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) for one semester. He farmed and raised livestock for 65 years, retiring in 2002. He was a 73 year member Equity Lodge # 131 A.F. & A.M in Janesville, Equity Chapter#6 O.E.S. serving as Worthy Patron twice, White Shrine, and the Cedar Falls Rotary since 1965.

Otis is survived by two sons, Jim of Dike and Irv of Newport Beach, California; daughter, Kathy (George) Hoellen of Lincoln, NE; ten grandchildren: Steve (Trisha), Jeff, Blair (Anne), Ryan (Erin), Austin (Holly), Rev. Scott (Laurie) Budlong, Jay (Jill) and David (Paige) Hoellen, Barb (Josh)Hannon, and Stephanie (David) Knudsen; twelve great grandchildren, Drew, Ashleigh, Cash, Brooke, Hank, McKenna, Tamsyn, Luther, Campbell, Cooper, Kate, and Kyle; sister, Marjorie Burley of Lake City, IA; and special friend and caregiver, Sandi Renner of Waverly.

He was preceded in death by a son, Delbert; one sister, Mary McArthur; daughter-in-law, Sue Budlong; four sisters-in-law: Marion Branson, Alice Petersen, Neva Johansen, and Ruth Iseminger; and two brothers-in-law, Ted and John Iseminger.

Services will be Thursday, October 6, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls, with interment in the Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday at the Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls, where there will by a public Masonic Service.
