November 6, 1931 - December 7, 2016

WATERLOO, IOWA – Jerry A. Butler, 85, of Waterloo died Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at UPH-Allen Hospital in Waterloo.

He was born November 6, 1931 in Story City, Iowa, son of Alfred and Nettie (Erving) Butler. He married Carol M. Roberts on August 9, 1959 in Conrad, Iowa. She died August 15, 2009.

He served in the US Army during the Korean War and worked at Chamberlain Manufacturing. He earned his Bachelor’s degree and was employed in value analysis at John Deere, retiring in April 1997. He was a member of St. Timothys United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls.

Jerry is survived by a daughter, Laura (Dave) Miller of Cedar Falls; two sons, Allan (Karen) Butler of Cedar Rapids and Jeff Butler of Waterloo; four grandchildren: Amanda Repp, Ethan Miller, John Butler and Colton Butler.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Hughes.

Services: Monday at St. Timothy’s United Methodist Church with burial in Elmwood Cemetery in Dike. Visitation on Sunday at Richardson Funeral Service and also for one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date.
