Lowell John Lentzkow

February 14, 1927 - January 8, 2017

Cedar Falls – Lowell John Lentzkow, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at his home.

He was born February 14, 1927 in Waterloo the son of Arthur Carl and Elvera (Mumm) Lentzkow. He graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1944, and earned a degree in economics from the State College of Iowa (UNI) in 1970.

On May 6, 1951, he married Miriam Jensen in Waterloo; she preceded him in death on July 31, 2015. Lowell worked in tool and die as well as a manufacturing engineer at John Deere in the downtown tractor works plant, retiring July 31, 1987. He was involved with the Kiwanis, Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, Supervisors Club, and served as an election judge precinct captain for polling booths.

Lowell is survived by two sons, Craig (Laura) of Yorkville, Iowa, Gary of Cedar Falls; one daughter, Melinda “Mindy” (Bruce) Josephs of Elmhurst, Illinois; six grandchildren; and by three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Robert, Kenneth and Jerry.

Funeral services will be 11am Saturday, January 14 at St Timothys United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls, with visitation from 9am until service time. Inurment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Cedar Falls.
