Obituary for Joyce E. Kloster

September 13, 1928 - February 7, 2017

Joyce Elaine Kloster, 88, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly.

She was born September 13, 1928 in Jefferson, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Mabel Butterworth Immerzeel. She married John E. Kloster in 1949 in Cedar Falls and they later divorced.

She earned her BA degree in Vocational Home Economics from the University of Northern Iowa and was employed as a teacher with AEA 7 at River Hills School and then later in the Waterloo School District, retiring in June 1991. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls.

Joyce enjoyed traveling and seeing new and interesting places. She instilled a strong sense of curiosity and adventure in her children.

However, her proudest achievement was being a grandmother and great mother, as family provided her with her greatest joys in life.

Joyce is survived by five children: Marsha Robbins of Cedar Falls, Mark (Marge) Kloster of Yorkville, IL, Doug (Deb) Kloster of Traer, IA, Dan (Jean) Kloster of Cedar Falls, and Lea (Jeff) Whitney of Georgetown, DE; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a brother, Chuck (Cheryl) Immerzeel of Janesville, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kathryn Frickson; and a brother, George Immerzeel.

Memorial Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Richardson Funeral Service with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous or Cedar Bend Humane Society.
