Doris Lucille Dilley, age 89, of LaPorte City, Iowa died Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Doris was born June 25, 1927 in Waterloo, Iowa, daughter of Glen and Gladys (Schott) Fairbanks. She was raised in Waterloo and graduated from New Hartford High School. Doris was married to Gordon Matson in 1944. He died in 1974. She married Francis Dilley in 1975 and he died in 1996. Doris worked as a cook in the cafeteria at John Deere from 1964-1974. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She spent her last days in the care of her devoted children and grandchildren.

Doris is survived by two brothers, Leonard Fairbanks of Arizona and Ronald Fairbanks of Wisconsin; four sons, Dennis Matson and Gary Matson, both of Waterloo, Iowa, Joseph Matson of Kansas City, Missouri, and Jim Matson of Vinton, Iowa,three daughters, Diana Blumi of Waterloo, Iowa, Joy Lynch of Dewar, Iowa and Jeanette Meyer of Eagan, Minnesota. She had 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings, Betty Erwin, Vaylord Fairbanks, and Bruce Fairbanks, a daughter, Nikki Moyer, a son Steven Matson, three stepchildren, Jim Dilley, Kathy Timmerman, and Rosemary Sanford, two grandchildren and a great-grandson.

NOTE OF THE TRANSCRIBER: Listed with the survivors was "and her companion, Harlan Johnson in 2016" but it possibly was meant to be listed in the preceded in death section of her obituary.
