Jonathan O. Baker, 80, a resident of Waterloo for 54 years and a retired Illinois Central railroad employee, died of carcinoma at 8:20 p.m. Sunday in his home, 1813 East Fourth street, where he had been in failing health for the past several years and bedfast for two months.

Born May 1, 1864, at Nashua, Ia, son of Henry and Sarah Baker, he married Miss Ida Spaulding on Nov. 17, 1890, at Nashua and had since resided in Waterloo.

A former machinist at the Illinois Central railroad shops for 28 years, he retired in 1934.
Mr. Baker was a member of First Congreational church.

His wife is the only survivor, a daughter, Madeleine, having preceded him in death at the age of five.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the O'Keefe & Towne funeral home by Rev. Charles E. Luce, retired Methodist minister. Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery, Nashua.
