Biography--

Wallace Johnson, 69, of Washburn, Iowa, died at Covenant Medical Center, on Thursday, July 28, 2016.

Wallace was born on December 3, 1946 in Waterloo, the son of Wallace and Clara Smith Johnson.

He graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1966. Wallace served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Wallace married Sharon M. Scobee April 27, 1968 in Evansdale.

He worked for in construction for Jens Olsen & Sons Construction for 21 years and then at Viking Pump for 21 years as a blaster operator, retiring in 2006. In the 80s, Wallace worked part-time simultaneously for Pinkerton, the Evansdale Police Department and Elk Run Heights Police Department so Sharon could stay home and raise their sons.

Wallace was member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Washburn. He enjoyed to fish and hunt and also go antiquing, paying special attention to old tractors. Wallace was not a soft talker and may have come across as gruff, but he was tender at heart.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Johnson of Washburn; two sons, John W. (Christy) Johnson of Waterloo and David W. Johnson of Washburn; two granddaughters, Paige and Ashley; a brother, Vern (Sharon) Johnson of Aplington; and two sisters, Vanessa (Fernando) Gonzales of Hutchison, Kansas, and Connie Johnson of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Conrad Johnson.
