Biography--

Dorothy J. Scheppele, 97, of Waterloo died Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Ravenwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Waterloo.

She was born April 4, 1919 in Waterloo, daughter of Emanuel and Clara Claus Scheppele. She graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1937.

She started working for Ziedlers, Inc. out of high school as a clerk, obtained her Certified Professional Secretary rating in 1965 and retired as Executive Administrative Assistant in 1996. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church from her birth until its closing in 1995. During that time she taught Sunday School and played clarinet in the church orchestra.

She then joined St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Dorothy was the past President of Victory Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals and a member since 1962. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and watching the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bulls and everything Iowa State Cyclones on TV.

Dorothy is survived by four nieces, Barbara (Ron) Seufferlein of Cedar Falls, Christine Allbaugh of Ankeny, Rebecca (Mike) Monaghan of Ankeny, and Sue (Wayne) Kampa of Jesup; and four nephews, Jerry (Julie) Linde of Ankeny and Barry (Marcy) Linde, both of Ankeny, James (Miann) Scheppele and John (Marylse) Frank, both of Waterloo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Everette Scheppele; two sisters, Lucile Frank and Virginia S. Linde; two brothers-in-law, Elmer Linde and Lawrence Frank; a niece, twin great‑nephews and a great‑great-niece.
