Biography--

Grace Agnes Bauman, 98, of Carroll and formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, died Thursday, January 19, 2017, at the Carroll Health Center.

She was born November 22, 1918, in Windom, Minnesota, daughter of Thomas and Emma (Johnson) Severson.

Grace married Donald F. Bauman on November 14, 1945, in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota. Donald died on March 27, 2000, at the age of 80.

Grace worked at Allen Memorial Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse from 1971 until retiring in 1981. Following her retirement, Grace worked at the Lutheran Home in Cedar Falls for eight summers. Donald and Grace enjoyed spending their winters in Mission, Texas.

In her free time, Grace enjoyed making quilts and wall hangings. She tied quilts with the ladies from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo and also at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Carroll. Grace also liked to read, knit, embroidery on dish towels, and do word search puzzles. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her daughters and their families.

She is survived by three daughters: Cheryl Zock and her husband, Alan, of Bettendorf, Iowa, Donna Rickers and her husband, Mark, of Westside, Iowa, and Janet Bahlmann and her husband, Terry, of Marshall, Minnesota; eight grandchildren: Brenda Payne and her husband, Rich Harberts, Sarah Mesa and her late-husband, Tim, Stefanie Fischer and her husband, Andrew, Michael Rickers and Elizabeth Zachary, Mitchel Rickers, Allison Bass and her husband, Kent, Dani Frederickson and her husband, Jay, and Brad Bahlmann; four great-grandchildren: Samantha Mesa, Witt Harberts, Brayden Bass, and Harper Bass.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; four brothers: Harold Severson, Leverne Severson, Leonard Severson, and Donald Severson; and by two sisters, Irene Dovenspike and Ethel Syverson.
