Biography--

Jimmy Sonksen, 71, of Evansdale died Thursday, February 2, 2017 at his home. Jimmy was born December 26, 1945, in Marshalltown, Iowa the son of Erwin and Ardella Petitt Sonksen.

Jimmy graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1964. He married Sharon Kay Wilson July 21, 1995 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

Jimmy worked in machine and assembly at John Deere for 32 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles -- Waterloo Aerie #764.

Survivors include his wife Sharon of Evansdale, a son Jeff (Maria) Sonksen of Longwood, FL; daughters: Teri (Matt) Hargreaves of Debary, FL and Jodi (Greg Hassman) Christensen of Cedar Falls; three stepsons: Chad White of Dallas, TX; Eric (Christine) Kneeskern of Evansdale, and Travis (Stephanie) Kneeskern of Cedar Rapids; a stepdaughter Tammy (Joe) Heimbuck of Waterloo; five grandchildren: Carter, Mary Grace, Natalie, Nicholas, and Olivia. He is also survived by three brothers: Larry (Joann) Sonksen of Hastings, MI; Terry Sonksen of Johnston; and Steven Sonksen of Marshalltown; and sister-in-law Faith Sonksen of Waterloo.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Connie Sonksen; two brothers, Denny & Raymond "Butch" Sonksen
