OBITUARY: THE GAZETTE, CEDAR FALLS, IOWA...FROM CEDAR FALLS PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUND BY MARIE CASEY COOK MAY 1975......DATED FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 1890 (fourth column from left) DIED:
On Sunday, February 9th, Mrs. Livingston, aged 86 years. Mrs. Livingston was one of the earliest settlers at Cedar Falls. She was born in Amsterdam, New York, reared in Schoharie County, NY and in 1853 moved with her husband to this place, where she has ever since resided. Mr. Livingston died in the Autumn of 1856. Converted in early life, and for a time a member of the Methodist church, after her marriage she together with her husband, became members of the Baptist church where they were then residing, Montgomery County, New York.
Soon after their removal to Cedar Falls, a Baptist church was organized here with which they at once united. Mrs. Livngston was the last of the Constituant members, except Elder Knapp and wife, now living in Illinois.
When in health Mrs. Livingston was well known as an active and faithful Christian, and as such, highly respected by all who knew her. For the last six years she was closely confined to the house. About three years ago, a severe fall rendered her absolutely helpless in body and mind. After being tenderly and faithfully cared for by a loving daughter through these years, also fell, last Friday evening into a quiet slumber, which on Sunday afternoon, was exchanged for the sleep which knows no awakening on earth.

Asleep in Jesus, blessed sleep.

From which one never wakes to weep.
Such a death has no terrors, leaves few regrets, only that blessed resurrection hope.
