Sandra Eileen (Stromley) “Sandy” Bell, 71, died on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home. She was born on January 20, 1945, in Mason City, Iowa, to Orven “Bud” and Maurine Luella (Young) Stromley. She spent part of her early childhood in the areas of Lyle, Minnesota and Mitchell, Iowa, before moving to St. Ansgar, Iowa at the age of three.
After graduating from St. Ansgar High School she attended the University of Iowa, later working at Osage Medical Group, Osage, Iowa, until she married Russell Dean Bell on September 19, 1964, in St. Ansgar. They made their home in Hudson, Iowa, and were married for 41 years before Russ died on April 26, 2005.
She spent most of her life as a homemaker raising their three girls. She also worked part time out of the home for various businesses including Yore Uniform Shop and Tom Kies Real Estate. Volunteer work included creating a complete listing of all residences in the Hudson Fire district. This assisted the firemen in finding individual homes quicker. In more recent years she enjoyed searching and posting over 10,000 obituaries to The Black Hawk County online Genealogy Web.
Sandy's favorite pastime was traveling and creating wonderful memories with her family. She was a member of the Heartland Vineyard Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
She is survived by her three daughters: Renae (Ray) Wason-Miller of Dunkerton, Iowa, Susan (Dave) Pearl of Aston, Pennsylvania, and Karen (Chad) Smith of Denver, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Shelbe Wason (Bradley Burnell) of Readlyn, Iowa, Hunter Wason of Cedar Falls, Landon Wason of Dunkerton, Parker and Brody Smith of Denver, and Zachary and Ellianna Pearl of Aston; one great-grandson, Benjamin Burnell of Readlyn; one brother, James Stromley (Diane) of Broomfield, Colorado; nieces, Erin (John) Wahl of Lakewood, Colorado and daughter Sonia, and Sara Stromley of Redmond, Washington; brother- and sister-in-law, James and Nancy Bell of St. Ansgar; nieces, Gail (Steve) Smith of St. Ansgar and Dawn (Chris) Standing of Ankeny, Iowa; and one nephew, Dean (Becky) Bell of Ankeny.
