Biography--

Donna Mae Jacobsen, 80, of Jesup, died Sunday, May 29 at her home of natural causes.

She was born May 14, 1936, in Waterloo, daughter of Lyle and Harriet Lockhart Parkhouse. She married Larry Jacobsen in 1952 in Waterloo and later divorced. She married Melvin C. Youngblut July 17, 1996 in Waverly. He died June 3, 2009.

Donna received her nursing degree from Hawkeye Tech and worked at Allen Hospital for thirty years, retiring as a Unit Coordinator in 1996.

She was a member of TOPS for 28 years.

Survivors include six daughters: Debra Ward of Evansdale, Pamela (John) Chambers of Rowley, Iowa, Denise (Duane) Dao Johnson of Dumont, Barbara Myers of Waterloo, Laura (Scott Herman) Sager of Dewar, Wendy (James) Hosek of Elma; five sons: Larry (Brenda) of Dewar, Stephen (Kim) of Evansdale, Daniel (Lisa) of Cedar Falls, Brian (Tish) of Dunkerton and Monte (Crystal) of Grundy Center; 26 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and her special friend, Al Erwine of Jesup.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Wayne Parkhouse; a stillborn sister, Barbara Parkhouse; a grandson, Ben Dao and two twin grandsons in infancy.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 3 at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Raymond. Public visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and continue for one hour before services.

Donna loved working at Allen Hospital. She enjoyed coaching her children at horse shows, camping, fishing, and going to TOPS. She loved her house, her many cats and her visits from her family, especially her grandchildren.
