March 17, 1926 - May 18, 2016

Charles J. Kipp, 90, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, May 18, at Linn Haven Rehab and Healthcare, New Hampton.

He was born March 17, 1926, in Castalia, the son of William J. and Pauline T. Giesing Kipp. He married Alma “Joan” Schissel on June 7, 1950, in New Hampton and she died November 28, 2010.

Charles served in the United States Navy during World War II and was employed as a foreman at Rath Packing Company for 30 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Julie (Brian Kohler) Kipp and Susan Kipp all of New York; four sons: Richard (Lynne) of Sioux City, William (Rose) of Freeport, Ill, Steven of New York, and Jack (Ruth) of New Hampton; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary White of Illinois.

Preceded in death by a son, Charles in infancy; a brother, Ray Kipp; a sister, Cele Drilling.

Services Tuesday, May 24, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo Amvets Post 19 and Evansdale Amvets Post 31, assisted Naval Honor Guard. Public visitation from 4-8 P.M. Monday, May 23, at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a vigil service. Visitation also one hour prior to services at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the church or St. Croix Hospice.
