Biography--

Marvin E. Nissen, 79, of Elk Run Heights, died Thursday, May 19, at the Martin Center of the Western Home Communities, Cedar Falls.

He was born September 20, 1936, in Waterloo, son of William and Harriett Hurd Nissen. He married Sharon Frank on July 9, 1960 in Waterloo.

Marvin was employed with Hawkeye Community College for many years, retiring in 1996.

Survivors include: his wife; three sons, Kevin (Cindy) Nissen and Peter Nissen, both of Austin, Texas and Danny (Marlys) Nissen of Waterloo; two daughters, Sherry (Joe) Rich of Stout and Laura Nissen of Kansas City, Missouri; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by three sisters, Shirley, Dixie and Donna.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1623 and the U. S. Air Force Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and for an hour before services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
