Camanche Father Is Dead of Polio, Had Been Ill Only a Week. Appeal Made to Aid Family.

Camanche-Members of the Camanche Lions and other town residents stressed today the immediate need of food, clothing and fuel for the five children and wife of Melvin Clark, who died Wednesday night of polio at University Hospital at Iowa City.
Cash contributions by the Lions Club and grocery donations by the Methodist Church have already been made.

Any type of donation for the Clark family can be sent to either Tyler's Grocery or Darr's Sinclair Service in Camanche.

Melvin Clark of Camanche, died at University hospitals in Iowa City Wednesday night after a week's illness. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 PM in the Johannsen & Rossow Funeral Home at LaPorte City. Burial will be at LaPorte City.

Clark was born in 1927 to Mr. and Mrs. Luvern Clark. he was a resident of LaPorte City before moving to Camanche. Surviving are his wife, Louisa, 2 sons, Dale 4, and ? 9, 3 daughters, Denise 6, Susan, 8, and Linda 10, all at home; his parents, Mr and Mrs Luvern Clark and one sister, Marjorie, LaPorte City.

Melvin Clark, 32, of Camanche, died at University hospitals in Iowa City Wednesday night after a week's illness.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Johannsen & Rossow funeral home in La Porte City. Burial will be at La Porte City.

Clark was born in 1927 to Mr. and Mrs. Luverne Clark. He was a resident of LaPorte City before moving to Camanche.

Surviving are his wife, Louise; two sons, Dale, 4, and Gary, 9; three daughters: Denise, 6, Susan, 8, and Linda, 10, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Luverne Clark of LaPorte City; and one sister, Marjorie Clark Edsill, of La Porte City.

Note: At the time of his death, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Luverne Clark were living on a farm at Fairbank, Iowa. His first wife was Sarah Jane O'Neil, daughter of Harry O'Neil.
