Rita A. Gutknecht, 63, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, Iowa. Rita was born May 27, 1952, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Richard A. & Bernice I. (Bloch) Gutknecht. She was employed as a hairstylist, cosmetologist, managed Sally’s Beauty Supply and was a Secretary at River’s Edge Christian Church.

Survivors include her special friend, David Albright, of Waterloo; two sisters, Bev (Gary) Bearbower, of Brandon, and Roxann Blum, of Dike; her brother, Mark Gutknecht, of Cedar Rapids; three nieces, Brandi Barber, of Cedar Rapids, Janae (Jeremy) Ohrt, of Jesup and Rittney (Matthew) Greer, of Topeka, Kansas; three nephews, Greg (Megan) Bearbower, of Polk City, Joshua (Christina) Blum, of Cement, Oklahoma and Ryan (Tiffany) Blum of Strafford, Missouri, five great nieces, Patience and Ella Bearbower, Alexis and Taron Blum and Faith Ohrt; seven great nephews, Garron Barber, Hunter and Fischer Ohrt, Silas and Tyler Blum, and Gus and Andre Greer; and one great great nephew, Kaden Moyer.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents and a great-niece, Hope Ohrt.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2016, at River's Edge Christian Church, 1247 Cedar Bend Street, Waterloo with burial at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hudson. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the church and one hour prior to service time.

Memorials may be directed to the church. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, 266-7525.
