James G. Love

July 16, 1938 - May 7, 2016

James “Jim” Gaylord Love was born on July 16, 1938, in Waterloo, the son of George Gaylord and Wilma (Craver) Love. Jim grew up in Waterloo and graduated from West High. He then served his county in the United States Marine Corps. After being honorably discharged, Jim began working for IPS, now known as Mid American Energy.

On September 26, 1959, Jim was united in marriage to Sylvia Zink at Hagerman Baptist Church in Waterloo. He loved collecting toys, especially fire engines, and also enjoyed taking care of his lawn. Jim died at the age of 77 on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

He is survived by two sons, Craig Love of Aurora, Colorado and Jeff (Dawn) Love of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; a daughter, Angela Love of Stoughton, Wisconsin; a grandson, Sean Love of Syracuse, New York; a brother, George Love of Lansing, Iowa; and a sister, Dorothy Mach of West Branch, Iowa.
