Richard "Dick" B. Boston

Biography--

Richard B. “Dick” Boston, age 95, of Waterloo, died Saturday, April 23, 2016 at UnityPoint-Allen Hospital.

He was born August 22, 1920 in Independence, Iowa, the son of Herman and Phoebe Copeland Boston.

Dick graduated from Waterloo East High School with the class of 1942. He married Darlene Johnson and they were later divorced. Dick married De Loris Miller on July 16, 1949 in Cedar Falls. He served in the US Navy during World War II.

Dick was an engineer for the Illinois Central Railroad for 37 years, retiring in 1980. In his spare time, he enjoyed creating landscape paintings. Dick also liked to spend time in the outdoors hunting, fishing, working in his garden and yard and playing a good game of golf.

In his youth, he was a horse jockey and he enjoyed watching horse races on television for many years. In the early 1960’s, according to a longtime resident of the area, Dick harvested the largest deer on record in Big Timber near Helena, Montana.

Survivors include his wife, De Loris of Waterloo; three sons: Queston (Judith) Boston of Elk Run Heights, IA, Kim (Mary Beth) Boston of Murfreesboro, TN, and Troy (Christy) Boston of Oskaloosa, IA; a daughter, Questeen (Allan) Read of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Dick was preceded in death by an infant son, Bobby and a brother, Robert, who was killed in action during World War II in Italy.

Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Garden View Chapel, 3655 Logan Avenue in Waterloo

Visitation:
Monday, April 25, 2016 and an hour prior to the services on Tuesday at Garden View Chapel
