Joint Memorials Services for Oren and Gwen: will be held Sunday, May 1, 2016 at the American Lutheran Church in La Porte City.

Cemetery:
Inurnment will be held Monday, May 2, 2016 in the West View Cemetery with Military Rites Conducted by the La Porte City American Legion U.S.S. San Diego Post #207

Biography-

Oren C. Hoyt, 94, of La Porte City, died Saturday, April 9, 2016 at La Porte City Specialty Care of natural causes.

He was born May 7, 1921 in North Benton County the son of Clark and Sarah (Teller) Hoyt. He married Gwen I. Fehl on May 26, 1945 in Racine, WI; she preceded him in death on January 18, 2016.

Oren served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He farmed for 24 years, worked at Titus Manufacturing, Doerfer Machine Shop in Cedar Falls and the City of La Porte City. He and his wife Gwen were Charter Members of La Porte City American Lutheran Church; former member/officer of Benton County Dairy Association; Card Club; and bowled in Church League; was a member of VFW and the U.S.S San Diego American Legion Post 207. He and his wife wintered in Texas for 21 years.

He is survived by one daughter, Marilyn (Elmer) Meyer of Dysart; two sons, Jim (Pat) Hoyt of Johnston, David Hoyt of Leicester, NC; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
