Obituary for Roger Wayne Elbert

CEDAR FALLS, IOWA - Roger W. Elbert, 83, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, April 8, 2016 at Unity Point-Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

He was born July 19, 1932, in Rolfe, Iowa, the son of Floyd Elwin and Esther May Ford Elbert. He married Olive Anne Eden September 14, 1956 at Grace United Methodist Church in Waterloo. She died November 7, 1998.

He was employed as a pattern maker and supervisor at the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works, retiring after over 30 years of service on July 31, 1987.

He is survived by twin daughters, Karen S. (Mark) Elbert Carlson of Palo and Sharon L. Elbert Terpstra of North Liberty; four grandchildren: Tyler Terpstra, Tara (Dusty) McClain, Matthew Terpstra, and Kendyl Anne Turner, two great-grandsons, Micah and Josiah McClain; brother, Gordon (Mary Jo) Elbert of Waterloo; two nephews, Jeff and Marty Elbert; and niece, Amy Elbert Brissette.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be Monday at the Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls, with private interment in the Fairview Cemetery in Cedar Falls at a later date.
