Biography--

Doris M. Schaefer, 81, of Waterloo, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 5, at Friendship Village.

She was born December 13, 1934, in Waterloo, the daughter of Peter and Rosetta McGarvey Schaefer. She graduated from St. Mary’s of Mt. Carmel High School in 1952 and later from Gates Business College. She managed the Old Schaefer Store in Eagle Center, then becoming an administrative assistant at Adams Sales Company. She then finished her career at ASCS in Waterloo.

Survivors include four brothers: Pat (Suzzanne) of Waterloo, David (Teresa) of Waterloo, Bruce (Danette) of Waterloo, and Loras (Marlene) of Elk Run Heights; three sisters: Rosemary Bryant of Ottumwa, Kathleen (Robert) Foster of Traer, and Rita Harrington of Waterloo; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Schaefer of Cedar Falls and Sandra Schaefer of Waterloo; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Donald, Paul, and Peter Schaefer; a sister, Marian Schaefer; and by two brothers-in-law, John Bryant and Daniel Harrington.

Services: Saturday, April 9, at St. Mary’s of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery, in Eagle Center. Public visitation Friday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a rosary and vigil service. Visitation also one hour prior to services at the church.
