Biography

Mary E. Huxham, 87, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at her home on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 of natural causes.

She was born January 2, 1929, in Calhoun City, Mississippi, daughter of Bertrand A. and Alma (Allen) Hamilton. She graduated from Dublin, Mississippi High School in 1946 and Kay Jensen's School of Beauty in Edwardsville, Illinois

She married Edward Evans Huxham December 17, 1950 in Waukegan, Illinois

She was a self-employed cosmetologist in her own home for 40 years. Mary was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waterloo, where she was a member of the Ruth Circle, American Business Women, National Hairdressing and Cosmetology Assoc., Order of the Eastern Star, and the White Shrine. Mary enjoyed attending hairdressing conventions and happy to have taken loving care of her husband before he went into the nursing home.

Mary is survived by her husband Edward of Waterloo; a son, Don Huxham of Marshalltown; a daughter, Annette (Brad Jackson) Huxham of Alden;
five grandchildren: Krista Welsch, Robin Snider, David Lynn, Lindsey and Lacey Huxham; six great-grandchildren; by two sisters, Eudie MacMullen of Jackson, Arkansas and Glenda (John) Holland of Tabb, Virginia; and by a brother, Bob (Gloria) Hamilton of Kenniwick, Washington.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, John T. and Hugh W. Hamilton.
