Biography--

Donald D. “Donny” Picken, 71, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at Windsor Nursing & Rehab Center, on Wednesday March 23, 2016.

He was born on January 26, 1945, in Waterloo, son of Harold R. and Roberta (Lien) Picken. Donny graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1965 and received his Commercial Art degree from Hawkeye Community College in 1987.

He married Linda L. Schaffer on Aug 31, 1968 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

Donny had various jobs throughout the years. He had worked for Syngenta Seed Company for 13 years and Webbeking Bakery retiring in 2006. He was member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

Donny was a very talented artist, enjoyed woodworking and spending time with family. He had a great smile and wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Donny is survived by his wife; two sons, Brian Donald Picken and Sean Patrick (Jennifer) Picken; a daughter, Amanda Linda Picken, all of Waterloo; two grandchildren, Ryan Patrick Picken and Jacob Donald Picken; a brother, Jack Picken of Marshalltown; and a sister, Linda (Larry) McCracken of North Richland, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services: Monday, March 28, 2016 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church; 420 Harwood Ave, Waterloo

Visitation: Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel; and prior to the services on Monday at the church.

Cemetery: Memorial Park Cemetery, Waterloo
