Biography--

Joan K. Thompson, 68, of Washburn, died Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Covenant Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born April 14, 1947, in Waterloo the daughter of Joe and Mary (Lies) Penry. She was a 1965 graduate of Waterloo East High School. She married Jerry Thompson on October 29, 1966 in Waterloo.

Joan had worked for the Waterloo Community Schools as a Health Assistant.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry of Washburn; one son, Troy (Jennifer) Thompson of Waterloo; one daughter, Jodi (Shawn) McGrane of Dumont; her mother, Mary Penry of Waterloo; six grandchildren, Brandon, Brittanie, Brooklyn, Kyle, Kurtis, Randi; six great grandchildren, Brendon, Aryella, Aleena, Brice, Bradley, Ivory; one sister, Michele (James) Heronimus of Waterloo and one nephew, Tim Heronimus of Waterloo.

she was preceded in death by her father and one grandson, Brice Thompson.
