Burial will precede the service on Saturday, at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo.

Biography--

Norma Maxine Young, 87, of Waterloo, passed into the presence of her Savior, Jesus, on Tuesday March 15, 2016 from complications of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.

She was born November 29, 1928, in Aurora, Iowa, the daughter of Harley and Velma (Rhodes) De Bar. She married Russell “Rusty” Young on November 21, 1947 at Walnut Street Baptist Church in Waterloo.

Mrs. Young was a 1946 graduate of Waterloo East High School. She attended San Diego Junior college while Rusty was in the Navy. She graduated in 1953 from Prairie Bible Institute, Three Hills, Alberta, Canada. She and her husband were missionaries in Guadeloupe, French West Indies for 10 years under West Indies Mission and for 32 years in France under Evangelical Baptist Mission. She was a member of Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, where she served as a greeter and deaconess for many years. She also ministered regularly at the county jail where she was seen as an adopted grandmother.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Crissie (David) Boyd of Veghel, Netherlands; a son, Randal (Lisa) Young of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Daniel (Heather) Boyd of Bergen-op-Zoom, Netherlands, Mark (Leslie) Boyd of Neumarkt, Germany, Nathan (Rebekah) Boyd of Marion, Malorie Young and Jonathan Young both of Waterloo; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Bernard (Sallie) De Bar of New Brighton, MN; and a sister-in-law, Elinor (Gillen) De Bar.

Preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Geneva Wiebbeck; and a brother, Raymond De Bar.
