Biography--

Edith Lenora Pearce Meyerhoff, 96, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, February 27, 2016, at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls. She was born August 23, 1919 in Decatur City, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Mabel (McClarnin) McCormick.

Edith married George William Pearce on January 15, 1938 in Osceola, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 31, 2003. She married Harold Meyerhoff on October 11, 2008 at Ascension Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Edith was a graduate of Pleasanton High School. She and George farmed and raised turkeys. Edith later worked in the UNI Custodial Dept., retiring in 1983 after 20 years of service. Edith was a member of the Washington Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Cedar Falls for 66 years, and was involved in many church activities.

She is survived by her husband, Harold Meyerhoff, of Cedar Falls; her son, Don W. (Emily) Pearce, of Cedar Falls; her two daughters, Charlotte (Louis) Smith of Cedar Falls and Janice (James) Ahlhelm of Evansdale, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Don L. Pearce, of Cedar Falls, and her sister-in-law, Ivene Pearce, of Eldora, Iowa.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents and first husband, George William Pearce, her sister, Ruth, and her brother, Rex.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial at Washington Chapel Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 4—7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, and one hour before service, at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family. Condolences may be left at www.DahlFuneralHome.com .
